Right of way acquisition registers, 1935-1938.

The collection contains registers, 1935-1938, which were maintained by Herman Ulmer who was acting as the general counsel for the Canal Authority of the State of Florida. These registers contain information regarding the acquisition of tracts of land for the right of way for the cross peninsular shipping canal that became known as the Cross Florida Barge Canal. The first register contains information on those tracts of land that were acquired through purchase negotiations. The other registers contain information on tracts of land that were condemned through the use of eminent domain suits. The legal description of each tract is entered in the registers.
